Monday Mudra & Mantra with Neida Ratzlaff
Hand positions play an important role in society, religion and in your health. In modern culture we have many hand movements and symbols that are associated with a certain meaning: clapping, palm upward and facing someone else meaning stop, holding the hands up signify surrender, even the crude gesture of “flipping the bird”.
The Sanskrit word “Mudra” is generally translated as a seal, mark, or gesture. According to custom, Mudras are typically used during meditation and yoga practices as a way to direct or channel energy flow throughout the body. According to yoga philosophy, different areas of the hand stimulate specific areas of the brain. By applying light pressure to these areas of the hand, you will “activate” the corresponding region of the brain similar to reflexology. Mantras are like medicine for the soul. When we select a word or series of words to repeat in the form of a mantra, we are affirming it to ourselves and allowing its meaning to seep below the surface, into our subconscious, helping to shift our negative habits and patterns into positive ones.
Use this class to explore Hasta Mudras (hand seals) and Mantras (sacred sounds) to enhance & focus your Asana and Mediation practice. Learn ways to find balance, direct your intention and enhance the power of your physical practice and meditation experience. Course will be 40 minutes of Asana and 20 minutes of Meditation.

Yoga Therapy & Singing Bowls Weekly Class
Can't open that jar? Want to just flop down on the couch or take a nap all the time? Is your body stiff and/or painful? Do you just feel like you want to cry or do you find yourself ranting more than you'd like at home about what's going on at work or at work about what's going on at home? Just like singing your favorite song can lighten your mood, Tibetan Singing Bowls can elevate your yoga practice as your brainwaves synchronize to the frequency of the bowls. The sounds balance the hemispheres of the brain, initiate the relaxation response and increase your ability to move through resistances such as weakness, fatigue, pain, stiffness and emotional tension. Join us this Friday for a deepened understanding of your yoga practice.
About the Instructor: Luz is a yoga teacher and yoga therapist with more than 25 years of experience in biological sciences, yoga studies, & quantum physics.
